This is the most common tool people expect. I help you to relax your conscious mind so that you can access and connect with the deeper subconscious part of yourself. Your subconscious is much faster and more powerful than your conscious mind. So, once you are in connection with that part of your mind we are able to literally tell it how to reorganise its thoughts and responses. We do this using a combination of direct suggestions and also metaphors and analogies. While some people are more suggestible than others. Everyone is capable of being hypnotised. However it’s possible for a person to resist hypnosis if they are nervous or sceptical. Come with a willing and open attitude and you will be able to experience hypnosis. Most people comment that they have never felt so relaxed as they have whilst in a hypnotic session. While in a hypnotic trance you are still able to hear things, think and control your own mind. You are never ‘out of control’.
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) NLP is a way of working with your mind on three levels.
Neurological- How the nervous system interacts with the body Linguistic- How we speak both internally and externally Programming- The processes (or syntax) of thoughts and behaviors that lead us to experience things the way we do.
In very basic terms NLP views our human experience through a logical framework of running programs which lead us to feel and behave in certain ways. We all do some programs really well and we all have some unhelpful programs. NLP aims to use what we know from our successful experiences and apply that to our less helpful experiences. It’s like reprogramming our mind and physiology to respond in a better way. Do more of what works and less of what doesn’t. Because we are working directly with your subconscious the changes can be extremely fast and significant. NLP does not require you to be ‘in hypnosis’
Coaching Coaching is a way of helping people to set and achieve their goals whilst keeping them completely in the driver’s seat. As a coach I will keep you accountable to your goals and help you to get clear and stay clear about where you’re heading and what you need to do next. Rather than staying in the dreaming phase of goal setting I want to help you to take the small and vital first steps towards converting your dream into reality. I also believe in taking the overwhelm out of goal setting and achievement.

As a coach I will keep you accountable, I’ll challenge you to look at your current behaviours, thoughts and feeling and assess what’s working and what needs to change. Sometimes people come asking for help with anxiety and other times it turns out to be the route cause of other problems like addictions, anger and insomnia. The feelings associated with anxiety are your subconscious trying to protect you and warn you about dangers. However for many of us, for various reasons our subconscious goes into overdrive. It doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you and even the most anxious clients can find emotional freedom. I will help you discover what sent your subconscious into overdrive in the first place and how it is processing information in the present to trigger that response. We can clear the past trauma or hurts and re-train your mind to perceive life in a more resourceful, calm and clear way. We can change all those physical feelings you get from anxiety too so that your body feels calmer and your learn how to relax. The best results come from 3-5 sessions.
When you’re depressed everything seems too hard. You lose interest in the things you love and struggle to even enjoy the people you love. Depression can happen to anyone, but it can also be treated. There are many reasons why people may get depressed. I work with each person to identify what they want, what’s getting in the way of that and how to resolve it. Often depression is partly caused by core beliefs about themselves and the world. Many people also have a strong inner critic and lots of negative self talk. These beliefs and inner voice generally form from childhood experiences and get stronger and more limiting over time. Sometimes a person is able to get along quite well until a difficult life event happens ( a break-up or losing a job or an injury) and then its like an avalanche of sadness/ stress and pain triggers all the negative beliefs to come to the surface. Hypnosis and NLP is extremely likely to alleviate or even eliminate the symptoms and the CAUSE of your depression. That’s because with Hypnosis and NLP we help you to actually change your view of the world and your core beliefs about yourself so that you can actually like yourself again. We can then help you to connect with an exciting future and find the motivation to live a life you can really enjoy!
One of the most important things about weight loss is that struggling to maintain a healthy weight is a SYMPTOM of some other kind of issue (such as anxiety, trauma, depression etc) When I support people to manage a healthy weight, what I really do is help them to develop a healthy relationship with themselves. In our highly filtered, high pressure, black-and-white-thinking society there is a lot of shaming of people who don’t look a certain way. The shaming comes from externally and often from within as well. I will work with you to help you love yourself for all that you are (not just how you look). I will help you to resolve past traumas that are impacting on your ability to manage your weight and I can help you to find the motivation to look after your body. I’m less interested in a number on a scale and more interested in how you feel about yourself, how motivated you are and how you can create healthy living patterns that actually nurture and excite you rather than punishing you. I am not a nutritionist, you’ll have to find the food solution that works for you elsewhere. However once you have resolved the mental and emotional stuff, the food component will be easy. I recommend an intensive 3 sessions up front and then another session/month for the first few months while you create your new healthy life and it becomes an ingrained pattern.
The feelings of Anger are actually not bad. They are a natural, necessary and healthy part of being human. However when we don’t understand our anger and don’t know how to resolve it, then it can destroy lives (yours and the people around you). When I work with anger I believe that all anger is routed in pain and/or fear. On some level you are feeling threatened, backed into a corner, overwhelmed or anxious and your subconscious goes into to “fight mode”. Sadly, if your fear or pain is deep seated and you don’t have a good awareness of it you end up going into fight mode easily and often and you can become so overcome that you do and say things you regret. At the mind coach I aim to HEAL anger. I will help you work out why you are in “fight mode” and help you resolve and heal that pain. Then we can teach your mind some new and more resourceful responses to situations that used to trigger you.
Its one of the most frustrating and exhausting experiences. Once someone has had some difficulty sleeping they often then become worried about their ability to sleep and that also intensifies their experience. Using my understanding of the subconscious I can help you identify what causes your insomnia and what you need to do to overcome it. We can resolve the initial cause and also the anxiety that develops around sleep once problems start. Like with all things I treat, often insomnia is a symptom of a deeper issue and if so, we will get to the bottom of that too. While some people do get immediate results, it is common for sleepy success to take a few sessions and we discover the whys around your sleep and then resolve them. within 3-5 sessions most people are sleeping well and feeling great! Before commencing treatment for insomnia it is advised that you speak with your GP and have some blood tests done to rule out physiological causes (such as thyroid problems).
Smoking, Drinking, Gambling, Shopping, Screens you name it, as a society we’re getting addicted at an alarming rate. Some people are able to quit addictions easily using simple will power. But if you’ve tried all of that and a few gimmicks besides only to end up at square one again then The Mind Coach can help. Most people learn to live around their phobias and often fool themselves into believing that its not that big of a problem. Then life has a way of forcing them to face whatever it is they are phobic of and suddenly they need to deal with it. Phobias are annoying at best and debilitating at worst. Yet in just a few sessions of NLP and Hypnosis you can become the person who says “I used to be scared of that”. You can develop a phobia of just about anything. You know its a phobia when even the sight of the thing- even on a movie or a photo; even someone talking about that thing induces a sudden and overwhelming fear that you cannot control. Often it is a very physical reaction to either cower, run or vomit. Phobias are actually pretty easy to assist with. You may not go from phobic to LOVING that thing, but you’ll be able to handle it without fear and dread. I have personally overcome both a spider and needle phobia using these same techniques- they DO WORK.

Your subconcious controls your behaviour and emotions and it even controls your bodily functions. It’s the part of your mind responsible for your reflexes and intuition and the things you do on 'autopilot'. It is incredibly fast and powerful and in order to do its job, it needs to be able to override the conscious mind. Your subconscious is the part of your mind that controls your automatic thoughts, feeling, beliefs and emotional responses. Its like your very own supercomputer designed to keep you alive. It performs millions of functions every day. However occasionally it gets things a little off.
Your subconscious gets programmed with information and responses to things mostly during our formative childhood years and also during times of high importance. Most of the programs your subconscious runs are amazingly effective and healthy. However sometimes a program becomes out of date or dysfunctional. Usually it worked in the moment that it was programmed in, but may not be the most effective program for now. However your subconscious can't always recognise that. It keeps going to the old well-known program to respond to things even if it’s making life difficult.
Your conscious on the other hand is aware of things like social norms, rules, your goals and intentions and priorities.
